Title IX

What is Title IX

Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 [20 U.S.C. § 1681] is a federal civil rights law that states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

As a recipient of federal financial assistance, Orange Coast College is committed to adhering to Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination and all forms of sex-based harassment, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, and relationship violence (dating violence and domestic violence). We are dedicated to:

  • Protecting Rights and Providing Support: Offering immediate access to protective measures and support resources for all individuals affected by harassment or discrimination.
  • Transparent Procedures: Clearly outlining the steps for reporting and resolving complaints, ensuring a process that is accessible and understandable.
  • Due Process and Fair Treatment: Upholding due process for all parties involved through an equitable grievance procedure that respects the rights of each individual.
  • Prevention and Education: Providing preventive education and guidelines to inform and support our community members, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
