CNC Mill - Level 1
This combination course starts with a 2-day intro to CNC Mill and is followed immediately by the 3-day CNC milling: Programming, Setup and Operations Level 1 class for a comprehensive 5-day training program on the Haas CNC Mill.
Description: This course is designed for those with little or no CNC mill G-code programming, setup and operations experience, and is provided to help prepare trainees for successful completion of the CNC Milling: Programming, setup and operations Level 1 class. The hands-on portion involves five 8-hour days directly on Haas CNC machining centers. The hands-on training includes safety, machine pre-checks, coolant management, startup, tooling and work holding, setting work and tool offsets, basic G-code programming, inputting and editing programs, adjusting wear offsets, machining a part and inspecting the results with precision measuring tools.
Project: The introduction to CNC milling work piece is a simple part made of aluminum; carbide end mills and drills are high performance tools; parts dimensioned in inch; machines are run in the inch system; cutter diameter compensation is used. At the conclusion of this course the trainee will have the opportunity to test to earn associated NIMS credentials. Tuition includes online curriculum, materials and all NIMS testing fees.
CNC Lathe - Level 1
This combination course starts with a 2-day intro to CNC Lathe and is followed immediately by the 3-day CNC Turning: Programming, Setup and Operations Level 1 class for a comprehensive 5-day training program on the Haas CNC Lathe.

We at Pasadena City College are rebuilding and revising our Machine Shop Program and recently purchased several new machines including the Haas Mini Mills and other CNC Lathes. In doing so, I felt it necessary to learn the new interface and capabilities of the equipment and quickly went searching for training locations. HTEC was the perfect place to begin my search and they were able to locate a training facility in my area.
I was amazed at the professional level of training I obtained at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. Training began with online preparation through Immerse 2 Learn which was extremely valuable. This online platform allowed me to become familiar with the equipment without ever entering the shop. Once instruction began, I felt like I already knew the machine. I also felt the package of information was very valuable as I quickly determined that benefit to myself but also its ability to assist our students.
The atmosphere was very professional and we had plenty of classroom discussion with hands-on training of the machines. There was enough time to learn the concepts of the new equipment and also practice with the actual machine. The projects were relevant to our curriculum and thoroughly express many capabilities of the equipment with plenty of one-on-one assistance.
I highly recommend the HTEC Teacher Training courses for faculty working with CNC equipment. The training provided countless benefits but also brought me into a network of supportive colleges and educators.
Thank you,
